Race Review:
After an all night downpour, the turf track was extremely messy and flooded. Some of the horses seemed to love it, while others had more trouble. Bursting out of the gate, Lughaidh, ridden by Tony Gosling, took an early and large lead. Gosling seemed to be having trouble control Lughaidh from the begginning though, and had a tough time controlling the highstrung three year old. Katherine, riding Deo Volente, stumbled out of the gate, not off to a good start. Stephan sprinted out of the gate with good footing, and cut off Volente in the early forlongs of the race. Charming Mystery was backing down from the pack around the 7th furlong, and CH One Night Stand was begginning to make her way through the pack. Around the bend, and an opening appeared next to the rail. Porter, on One Night Stand, slipped through, barely missing knocking the other horse, which would have resulted in disqualification. Gosling and Smith were still toiling over the winner, and fighting for lead position. Gosling let Lughaidh all the way out, and Volente slowed down a fraction of a second. Gosling thought Volente was tiring out, and slowing up, and CH One Night Stand, now in third place, was still a good three lengths behind. Liz Young, riding PLF Satellite, was having problems finding and opening, and was fighting for forth position with McKenzie riding Greatness IVE. Porter, now a length and a half behind Deo Volente, still in second, was closing the gap as they wrapped around the last bend. Gosling, a fourth of a length ahead, was tiring, and quickly, however, Porter was too. Smith let Volente out, and he passed Gosling gaining speed. Porter and Gosling were battling out 2nd place, as Volente slipped under the wire 2 1/2 lengths ahead of a photo finish second place.
